I traded my 07 for an 09, and just got back from a 1500 mile trip in three days. I LOVE THIS BIKE!
- ABS - One of the main reasons I traded. I've tested them twice, and they work like a charm.
- Frame - Huge difference in the way the bike handles, feels very steady in high speed sweeping turns. The shocks are also firmer.
- Gearing - You can actually use 6th gear! I always felt I was lugging the 07 if I used 6th gear below 70, not so on the 09.
- Heat - So far I have not noticed any.
- Rear tire - Can't really say I notice any difference.
- Six gallon tank - Very nice on a road trip. I can easily go 220 between fillups. The bile averaged 42MPG on the trip.

I climbed the Harley model ladder--Sporty, Dyna, now EG. I don't plan on continuing the climb with newer touring bikes every second or third year. Unless I crash it, my 06 EG is my last bike. Harley's true marketing genius is not in bringing in first time Harley owners but in changing just enough from year to year to sell current Harley owners a new bike when their current one is plenty good enough. Contentment in life is at some point deciding to be happy with what you have.

I own an early 07 FLHT. For what it is, I love the way the bike runs, rides, handles. I have had problems with the starter as some early 07's have. The starter drive along with the clutch drum assy was replaced 3 months ago because some of the starters are junk and it came apart. The problem is starting all over again. I have also heard of crank end clearance problems on early 07's. Friends with 08's have had a few problems with the TBW but, otherwise, are very satisfied with their bikes.

I agree that all companies need to change products year to year to increase sales but sometimes it's better for the consumer not to just jump further into debt. just to "keep up with the Jones's". But if you can afford it and that's you want then by all means GO FOR IT. You will be happy no matter what you do as long as you are riding.
Keith , maybe we'll get together for a ride on our vintage bike.
