Rider adjustable backrest on 08 SG???>>>
I have a few questions for any of you guys who have the HD rider adjustable back rest.....you know the one with the little lever that mounts under the side of the seat I guess.
First I want to use this on my 08 Street Glide with a new SG style Sundowner seat. I want to know first how well does it do the job.....does it take that much strain off your back on extended rides? If I wanted to go on short rides is it easy to remove the backrest or a total PIA? Can I use the backrest with the stock SG seat also? Is it a PIA swinging your leg over to get on or off the bike.....or does it fold down or something?
You could probably tell, never in all my years of riding did I own a bike with a backrest....or a fairing, radio/CD player, saddle bags....or any of the cool stuff that comes on the SG. Now at 45 (been riding since the Z50 days) I am needing more and more comfort, and less and less knee dragging.
My girl has her heart set on a backrest now that I got her the Sundowner.....so I figured I may as well get one for myself, and that is the one I like.....plus I got a deal that was too good to pass up on both the backrest and the mounting hardware.
Thanks for the help guys!

Just installed an adjustable rider back rest on my 09 S.G. last night. I took it out for about a 40 mi. spin and I loved it. It is kind of floppy when you are not on it but as soon as you put some back pressure against it it's fine. It worked with my stock seat and I am 99.9 % sure it will work with your sundowner seat (just look for the cut out). Instillation was not bad after you get through the sh*ty directions they give you with the kit. If you get one make sure you order the mounting hardwear kit as it comes seperate from the backrest kit. The backrest folds forward flat when you want to get on it. The backrest and post come out of the bracket with the flip of a latch that is located flush with the top of the seat leaving a clean look with no exposed parts. In my opinion it is the best money I have spent on any accessory. Hope this helps.

I know you're asking about the H-D riders backrest and I hate to get off topic but get the Mustang back rest. It'll work with the H-D seat, it's less $$$, easy install, easily adjustable even while riding. All you have to do is reach behind and turn a thumbscrew.
Do a search and you'll read about countless riders who've had to heat and / or bend the H-D piece to get it to fit right.
