Default Help me choose '05 RKC exhaust....

I'm wanting an exhaust that ABSOLUTELY will not blue. That is my first criteria. I could go either slip-ons or a full system, I have no real preference. I don't want the bike REAL loud, just a nice mellow Harley sound- louder than stock though. I won't be doing much in the way of mods, as I want total reliablity. Stage one filter setup, pipes and a re-map is about it. I like the looks of the Screamin' Eagle slip-ons with the Sharkfin tips, but haven't heard them, or know if they blue. Any suggestions?

The exhaust on my last streetrod was jet-hot coated. Not what I'm looking for for the RK though.
I also like the "finished" appearance of the Vance & Hines pipes as well. Any input appreciated....Thanks.

Lots of positive feed back here on the V&Hs. I am also leaning towards ordering a set of V&H's, installing them myself to save a few bucks and then taking the bike to the dealer for the SE Stage 1 upgrade. I'm hoping that will give my FLHRCI a little kick in the pants and a nicer sound without breaking the bank. Good luck.

I helped a friend install the V&H true duals a couple of weeks ago. We also installed a power commander on the bike. In my opinion, it does not get any better than V&H. Quality and sound are excellent.

If you want to save yourself a few bucks. Install the pipes and Stage 1 kit yourself then take it to the dealer for the remap. They still charge you for the mapping but you'll save yourself the installation costs, I did. The Stage 1 install is a piece of cake.

I did the vance & hines ovals at the dealer, 399 for the mufflers, and charged me $37 (1/2 hour) for the install.

I have Rineharts and I really like the sound of them. What causes the pipes to turn gold or blue is when the bike is'nt tuned properly(real lean or real rich), or if you leave the choke on, if your bike is carbed. One thing you can do to help, is to ceramic coat the insides of the pipes, prior to running them while they are still new before installation. There are kits available to do this and is'nt that hard to do.

Most pipes are shielded today, but the mufflers will still turn if not properly tuned.

Yea, I'll put everything on. I've got a Powercommander on the way as well. I just want to hear who has has good experiences with "what" pipes.
1. No blueing

How far are you able to ride it before you re-map? My dealer is about an hour and fifteen minutes away and I don't want to burn out any valves running that far if it's very lean.
