Well I guess I'm the newest member of the club. I just went and checked, yep the shaft is reversible and the bits are there. Jeez I feel dumb.

I take back all the swear words I said about MOCO while standing by my bike on the side of the road today and will atone by buying more HD stuff at a dealership soon.

I'm still gonna buy some better tools tho.

I toss in whatever I can think of before a long ride until I get a proper set. My used bike came with nothin, unless it is hiding under something I have not yet discovered.

Being that I used to do mechanic work and used to working with good quality tools, has anyone replaced the tools out of the kit with the quality pieces.

I am a retired mechanic with over 20K invested in Snap-on tools but when it came to a toolkit, I went with this one. This tool kit is made just for Harleys and the tools are well made. I only had to add a couple tools to round out the set. As far as I can tell there is just about everything I would need for an emergency repair on the road. Keep in mind that some major tools are not included but I hopefully won't be doing major work on the side of the road.

"Real" motorcycle tool kits will set you back $100 or so. You can't expect too much from the "free" kit you get with your bike.

I bought a Cruz Tools kit a couple of bikes ago and it's paid for itself several times over.

Buy the Windzone EK-1HD tool kit and forgetabout the Factory kit. That's my tool kit of choice.. Of course, I also bought a $50 HD air pump for the shocks too. I guess my moto in life is it doesn't cost that much more to go first class.

Kudos to Glyde for owning up to his boo-boo. Most would have just slithered into cyberspace, never to be heard from again on the subject hoping the thread would die.

I went to wal-mart and got a zippered bag. Then added what I needed. I have 50% more tools than the cruz or wind zone has. Including the torx's. I have about $70 invested.

+1 for Glyde manning-up for his mistake. Glyde, I suggest you edit your original post so casual viewers will see immediately how to find the phillips, rather than reading through a bunch of posts.

I bought the WindZone EK-1HD kit shortly after buying my bike three years ago. For a newbie, it was an excellent purchase from Eastern Performance Cycles, and I have removed/added a few items over time. If you know what should be in a travelling tool kit, you can save a few $$ putting your own together, but for a newbie, the WindZone kit was the right way to go for me.

+1 on Windzone, less than $50.00 delivered to my house off E-bay. Granted it is not anything that you'll do a major teardown on the road, but for those moderate fix-its, a pretty complete toolkit.
