Default air cleaner backplate removal on an 08'?

Anyone have instructions and or pics of the proper way to remove the stock airbox backplate? Trying to install a AN big suker, but I do not want to mess up the OEM backplate (and no, I don't have a service manual, that would have made things easy for me and I am stubborn).

Removing the backplate is a simple unscrew. You are removing everything, air cleaner components and all. Some removals will take a little muscle if I remember.

This was a great post on how to install a SE Air Cleaner on a 2008. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/181983-how-to-08-se-air-cleaner-install.html

Unfortunately, the links to the pictures are dead. If you PM Bingo I'll bet he can make them available.

Yea, saw that the pics were dead before writing this thread. Good idea to PM Bingo, I'll Try that.

When I took off the A/C filter and got down to the banjo bolts with the oil tubes on them. That is when I stopped. I didn't know if the two banjo bolts were all that was holding the backing plate on or if there is more. I saw the electrical harness on the back that needs to be disconnected, but I also saw two clips on the left side...unsure what they clip to. So any advice will be of help.

Sounds like you're going too far. Remove the two breather tubes, then the two breather (banjo) bolts. Remove the backplate. That's it. You may also have to remove the induction module bracket to fit the AN Big Sucker properly (two allen bolts accessed from the top (don't scratch the gas tank)). Don't disconnect the electrical harness. Not sure which clips you see, but shouldn't have to touch them either.

I didn't think anyone was interested in this operation so I did some housecleaning, but I have put the pix back so the link should work now if you want to have a look. I am told that some newer breather kits do not need to remove the throttle body support though, so you may have to determine that for yourself.
