Default Cover for radio?

Does anyone know if there's a cover of some sort for the HK radio on my RG? I park outside at work, and the radio is exposed to the rain and sun.

I'm sure it's ok, but a cover couldn't hurt. My display is starting to get "etched" from the water and what-not. Not a real big concern, but I don't want it to get worse.

Thanks,

Steve

I dont know of a cover for a factory unit, but you could take the cover section off a marine unit. I would take an old cd and cut it in half, and glue the straight or cut edge of the CD to the inside of the marine cover. The half CD would go in the CD slot and hold the cover in place. If you do this make sure you see if the marine cover will go around the HK player as HD radios are slightly larger than the standard "din" size car radios.

Nice idea, Pez. My '84 Venture had the radio facing straight up, but had a nice plastic cover, that someone eventually swiped.

I'm fortunate that I have a garage at home and a warehouse to park in at work. But when traveling I wish I had a cover, been looking at the Harley Oasis cover. It covers the fairing to the back of the bike not like the full size bike cover that I think would be a hassle. It'll keep your seat dry and cool too on hot summer days.

Biketronics had a splash guard--molded plastic that pressed into the recess of the inner fairing to cover the radio. I have one and use it when the bike is parked. Don't know if he still sells them. IIRC, I paid $20 for it. Pretty steep for molded plastic, but it does the job.

Hi Pingman

I think Biketronics uses the extra space a car radio gives to let their cover stay in place. I dont it would work with a factory radio.......

If you want a quick cover for rain and moisture to stay out go to the store and buy some of the elastic storage covers they sell for left over food. Not sure of the brand? Works like a hair net and easy to store. If it gets stolen get another from the pack.

This is not a cover but will help with the display. The other day I bought this protective cover for my phone at Best Buy. It is applied to the screen. You could probably cut to fit the display screen. They claim that you can take a key to the glass and it will not scratch it. So far after a few weeks, they are right. It is pretty durable.
