Default What to use for leg protection from cold

Just wondering what guys recommend when riding in the cold weather. I plan on doing a little more cold weather riding and need some advice on keeping the legs warm. I have a 07 SG.

Chaps or cold weather overpants. I have worn chaps at 7°, which is about -25° at 60mph, with no problems.

Or install fairing lowers.

Lowers, lined blue jeans, lined chaps. If you don't want to go with lowers, then maybe heated pant liners will help.

The wind is the problem, and of course the temp. So do everything you can to keep the wind off yourself, layering helps. By using my own advice I have ridden down to 15F. My commute to work is at about 60mph so thats about -30F, no problem. I have heated gloves for the hands.(but also have a batwing.)

Chaps...they work great. Just make sure you wear some thermal underwear or something so you don't freeze the boys. The nether region can get awfully cold.

I wear fleece-lined jeans. I picked them up at Dick's Sporting Goods for $40, and they work really well when I'm out riding on the weekends.

I wear long johns, leather pants, knee high boots. usually ride year round in Michigan.
The only thing that gets really cold is my hands.Time to get rid of my 25 year old gloves I guess.

Assless chaps work for me. I seldom ride in weather that some would call 'cold',
since I am in Florida, but below 50 degrees is chilly to me.
I can not use 'long johns', since the temp. usually increases to at least 70 degrees
sometime during the day. Besides....hard to find a good fitting pair of long johns in daytona beach.
Chaps helps alot.

Silk long johns are great with a good pair of chaps.

Tho I have never tried it, I remember hearing that "pantyhose" are warm! Think about it lots of women wear dresses in the winter! Just don't get in an accident it would be mighty embarresing!
I use chaps, easy on easy off !
