I think the dual headlights are one of the best features of the RG... the illumination is awesome and if one light goes out, you've got the other as back up. Two plusses, great illumination and better safety.
During the day I run with both lights on HIGH beam. Occasionally it will irritate a driver coming my way, but the good side of that is that I didn't go unnoticed.

I have an '08 RG and had the same dilemma as you did. Test rode my buddy's '07 EG and the RG at the stealership. The differences for me was the stability on the fairing. The batwing had horrible vibrations at different speeds and the RG was solid throughout. Handling on the RG, once you get used to the weight, is great. On the EG I see why the cops use them, they can turn on a dime at low speeds. The RG fit me better, I'm 6'4", but there are things you can change to make any bike fit you better. My advice, test ride each model and go from there. Hope this works!
