does it have ids? stock or stage I (and what type of fuel management)? and lastly, is it a good price? there are a lot of changes between 07 and 09, it should be priced accordingly, regardless that it was never ridden.

I'd ride it to see if the tranny is objectionabally noisy. Some are noisy some are not. If it sounds good it's probably a good ride. I have an '07 Streetglide with a quiet tranny. It's been a great bike and I ride it a lot over the road. Both coasts and Canada to El Paso Texas this year. Unlike most on this forum, I'd rather have a good '07 than an '08 or even an '09. Why? Same engine and tranny, but no cheesy IDS to go bad, and throttle cables instead of that electronic throttle activation. Had an old club brother take the ditch last summer when this "improved" throttle stuck. He's no rookie, has been on Baggers since the seventies. There's just less to cause problems on that '07.

Flame on Fat tire lovers, they do look good, and tell me your IDS works fine (so far), it's not a quality piece of equipment, it's a cheaply made band aid. Most won't have problems with the electronic throttle, some will, but you damn sure won't get stuck on the road with well maintained cables.

Mine has had only two minor problems in 23k miles, the highbeam LED on the dash and brake-reservoir gasket needed replacing, both in warranty. The '07s didn't have IDS standard, and most bikes exhibit clattering in 5th and/or 6th gears at certain RPM's without it. If it doesn't have IDS I would put that on your list of must-dos, and if it has not had a "Stage 1" upgrade (fuel-management upgrade, AC, mufflers) I would plan on that as another must-do. By "Stage 1" I don't mean HDs Stage 1 download, which is a waste of money, IMO.

Other than this, I can't think of anything unique to '07s that might cause a problem, but SG's do have their own peccadillos, like poor rear suspension and lack of saddlebag guards. Either or both may not be important to you, so if you decide to buy it you can decide your needs and priorities later.

There great bikes that need to be kept at 2700 rpm or better in any gear or they will lug and rattle. My early 07 silver motor developed a oil leak between the rear cylinder and gearbox joint at 10.000 k's. The crank cases needed to be split to fix this leak Harley paid all the labor cost to repair and I paid the extra for the left SE main bearing, Boring of the cylinder's for 103 slugs and for them to fit Andrews 54h cams. Most owners have had zero problems with them after many miles. Like all Harleys you can buy a lemon in any model so make sure you take this bike on a good test ride . They need a stage 1 kit of your choice,EFI tuner, synthetic oil and maybe a oil cooler depending on where you live to help the motor run cooler.

True, but IDS gets rid of all the rattle and clatter, or at least did it for my bike and all others I've read about. For my bike it was a real transformation from a flawed drivetrain to a real smoothie, the way it should be.
