Ok. I've been burning MP3 CDs at 192 kbps with iTunes for my bike stereo. Above 70 mph I get a lot of distortion/skipping/fading in and out stuff when playing mp3s. I don't get it when using a regular cd.

So my question is whether anyone else is experiancing this problem? I'm thinking I'll change my quality setting to 256 kbps second and see if it improves. If not I'll try 384.

I run a mp3 cd pretty much all the time and have had no issues at any speed of the bike. I am not sure what bitrate I burned the CD, but I do recall the first time I burned a CD it had issues when I played it on the bike. I think I burned it at a high rate, 16X. Some songs would skip and not play.

So try burning the CD at a lower speed, say below 8X and see if that works. Your best bet would be 1X or 2X, but you can try faster.

 

No problems with mine. I record at 128 kBit/s, 44.100 Hz. Good luck.

 

A regular CD is 128kbps, so increasing that probably won't change too much. Keep in mind that mp3's are compressed files, and you will lose some clarity as a result, especially on a car/bike stereo.

 

I always use 192 kbps - But always burned them @ 4X. Have had some issues @ 16+

 

Yes why not just hook up the Ipod/MP3 player into your AUX jack?

 

I don't mean to hijack the thread but ya'll mention pluging in a MP3 player. When I do that the volume wont go high enough on the radio to hear it at 65 mph or higher. I have no trouble with burning MP3 disks at 8X though. I even have the ID tags on all the songs come up on the screen.

Another vote for a mp3 player plugged into the aux input. I have a 32 gig IPOD touch that has a 36 hour battery life playing mp3s. Got about 1000 of my favorite songs on it plus when you are at a place with wifi you can read the HD Forums!!!
