Default One for the gas gods

So like a JA-- I put a couple of tanks of 87 octane gas in my 09 RK. Bike ran just fine but after I realized my airhead move I ran the tank out until the fuel light came on and filled it with 93. I know there is still 87 in the tank. Are there any ill effects from mixing the 2 gas grades?
Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

33K miles on my SG all on cheap gas. No problems. I have a friend that hauls fuel. Most places know they won't get caught and mix it anyway. Oh before nay sayers chime in.. 72K on my 99 lowrider same bad habit no problems.

If you ran 87 and had no pinging keep running it. There is no issue mixing gas grades. Keep an ear out for pinging though.

Run as low as you can without pinging ... Have to run 91 at least on mine and 93 gives better performance and mileage...

+1, if your bike wasn't pinging, continue to run 87. Nephew has 15k on 08 sg and always runs 87 with no problems. I have 07 rkc w/25k and need all the octane I can get...go figure. Runnning higher octane than you need only costs you money and performance.

I run 93 octane in mine for peace of mind. Filled up last night, 4.77 gallons at $3.399, total bill was $16.21. The 87 octane was $3.129. Difference would have been 4.77 times .27 or $1.29. Not enough money to worry about.

Exactly!! I wish I could get 93. All we have here in OK is 91 but is seems to work.
