Advice on head sets
Bought a 08 ultra in early spring. As a teacher, I did nothing but travel this summer to the tune of 11,000 miles. One complaint. The harley headset is absolute junk. I took the wife to san antonio from columbus oh and over 80 mph we couldn't hear the stereo or each other through the headsets. through the crap away and gave the helmets away to a friend. they were the harley half face if it matters. bought two full face shoei helments and here is the question. Should i get the j@M to put in the helments or the chatter box? thanks in advance!!!!!!

I have an 08 Ultra and used stock Harley headset for a while with an Arai full face. Switched to a Nolan N102 with a J&M ncom headset (helmet decision; not a headset decision). I sat on bike and switch back and forth between helmets (and headsets) and did not feel that there was significant difference. Don't know if you wear ear plugs but I always do and the sound I get is as good as in my car when the ear plugs are blocking out the wind noise.
I'm not an audiofile but this was my experience.
Good Luck.

I have an 02 Ultra and a 08 Road Glide. I use a Harley headset, the one that came with my 02 Ultra. My wife and I have not had any problems with our headsets but I have had to replace a few cords over the years. The funny thing is I do not get the same performance with my RG. I get quite a bit more distortion and it sounds like there is way too much treble. I haven't been able to adjust the radio to improve the sound. I am waiting for someone to come up with a magic bullet to fix this. My wife and I both wear a full face helmet. I don't want spend a lot of money on this but I do like the intercom and my music.

If you are not using the CB and looking for passage to passager communications and using speakers for the radio looking into the Scala Rider bluetooth headsets from Cardo. They are pricey but give you features such as bluetooth phone if you need it as well as bike to bike if your fellow riders are using the same sets. Just another option, will also link to your bluetooth GPS.
