Question Mutazu "Vivid Black" color match

I bought one of the Mutazu vivid black trunks and installed it last night. Pretty decent for the price. The lighting in my garage is a little weak but the trunk sure seems to be a dark or deep black instead of vivd black. The box is marked just "Black".

If anyone sees this that has bought one in this color does the color match your bike well or is it a deeper black and did the box just say "Black" or did it say "Vivid Black"? Wondering if I got the right color. I've e-mailed Mutazu/Cyclegear but thought I'd ask here too.

Thanks.

They are junk trunks, and the paint is not an exact match. I did put one on a Suzuki a while back and the lid cracked with in six months. Too much flex. Just remember you pay for what you get.

I realize you get what you pay for but don't have 1,000.00 or so to lay out for an HD tour-pak right now. Was really just asking about the color match, thanks.

I've seen many posts where people are happy with them considering the cost.

Sorry.. can't answer on the color...
But I've had mine on my bike for two years, over 10,000 miles
and several 2,000 miles plus trips and no problems.
Cost and luggage space were a big factor for me...

Geesh, the guy asks about a color match and gets non-responsive posts.
That said, this one is non-responsive, also.

Cracking the lid is the result of a heavy load on it. The Mutazu flexes and so does the $500 HD TP's sold for Road Kings--they seem to be of very similar construction as the Mutazu.

I have both the Mutazu and HD King TP and prefer the Mutazu for traveling solo since the first thing I want to do is get the box off the back of the bike when I get to my destination and enjoy the look and handling of the bike without the box. And the Mutazu weighs about 1/3 of the HD TP.

As for color-matching, nobody does a better, more consistent job of color matching than HD. Ask a knowledgeable painter, and he'll tell you that color-matching is influenced by the ambient conditions when the paint is applied, the gun used, the paint batch, and other variables that HD obviously can reproduce over and over again.

My initial thoughts on the non-responsive posts too. I can't afford to adhere to the "if it ain't from Harley, it ain't worth having" school of thought... I'd like to have an HD chopped Tour-Pak but that just isn't in the budget in the forseeable future.

I understand on the paint. I also wondered how much the fact that my bike is a 2002 and has probably faded a fair amount over time has to do with the mismatch. I've seen guys try to color match auto paint that's faded when doing fender repairs, etc. and sometimes they get it right and other times not.

I went through exactly the same thing you're going through right now. Used soft luggage for an extra year, and tossed the extra coins in a box. This year I got the Chopped Tour Pak in vivid black. With the 20% off on TP and detachable rack, and Ebay for the TP Backrest , I think I'm into it less that $650. By the time I paint the Matuzu to match and I still need the rack to mount, I'm pretty close to that. Decided to go HD, NOT cause I'm hardover on all HD stuff, but replacement parts, locks, bras, hinges, racks, everything fits. If I'm somewhere on the road and have a failure, I can always get the parts. FWIW.

Wife said she didn't want a sissy bar, she wanted a back rest with arm supports. I don't want a tour pack period let alone having $1k or more tied up in an H-D tour pack that will just hang in my garage until my wife rides her 4-5 times a year.

Got my black Matuzu today and will check the box labeling and visual color match tomorrow in the light and get back to you.
