Chroming wheels at Chrome Pros?
Sent my 09 rims to get chromed by Chrome Pros, called them yesterday and asked if they clear coat them when done chromong, they said no. I know on my HD chrome profile wheels there was a layer of clear coat on the rims, should I get the 09 stockers clear coated before I put them on or just go with the bare chrome? My buddy's Fatboy rims look great from Chrome Pros so I dont know if it would be necessary. Appreciate your input here.

Clearcoat over Chrome.
If I were a chrome company I wouldnt either.
There is a product YOU can apply however:

If applied per instructions it works great on uncoated wheels.
The best company I have ever used when building a hot rod was California Chrome.
I have a set of two peice American Salt Flats sent to them for chroming. They have the only jig out there to prevent Brown spots in the wheels where two peices come together.
They do Clear coat on Chrome:

Chrome Pros did my wheels 3 years ago, still perfect. DO NOT PUT CLEAR COAT on the chrome. It will just chip, peal, and be a constant pain in the rear. Every time even the smallest rock hits it, it will break the seal, and then it will start to deteriorate as the elements get to the inside. These are very easy to maintain once chromed. Basically wash, and blow dry. End of story. I've been there and done that with clear coat on my Low-Rider with some Rev Tech alum wheels I had chromed. Wish I'd never put the clear coat on them. Hope this saves you some head aches. Please don't test it, you'll regret it. And by all means, many of us are looking forward to seeing those 09 wheels chromed. Please post the pictures when complete. Thanks and I hope this helps.

clear coat on chrome
typically clear coats are put over raw polished aluminum. They can either be a ceramic clear or a clear powder coat. I'm not sure what you are looking for, but chrome is pretty durable as long as you take care of it. the reason you hear of people clear coating polished rims is that it preserves the shine and cuts down on your upkeep of polished aluminum. This is not as big of a deal with chrome. good luck!
