Default Stage 1 Stupid Question of the Day

Okay I am confussed. And yes I have searched this forum for the answer. I just purchased an 03' RKC with a Screming Eagle Stage 1 kit. I am not sure if this is only the slip on exhaust or includes the air cleaner or what. Can someone clarify? And do you have any suggestions for future mechanical mods to improve performance?

I am extremely happy with the ride, the sound and the performance, but what I dont know could even make it better.

Thanks for your input....this forum helped me select the bike in the first place....THANKS

Congrats on the new ride. The Stage 1 is the air cleaner kit so you sould be good to go. If you have been reading around here for a while you know that if the bike is EFI then some folks recommend installing a SERT or Power Commander and getting the bike DYNO tuned to increase perfomance a bit. Ride the heck out of it and enjoy the ride...

Easy to spot a stage 1 air kit. Open backplate, no gasket on cover, and filter is round. Next step up is a big bore kit with a programmer (PCIII) and dyno tuning, if ya got EFI.

The "stage 1" kit is the air cleaner, back plate and the mounting studs. Check out the DIY area for the install instructions and it breaks it down for you. I would suggest an exhaust upgrade if it hasn't already been done. I have SE slip ons on my RK. They have a nice Harley rumble at cruise speed and can bark if you lean on it. If your RK is carbed you may want to have the carb rejetted after you install the pipes as the bike will most likely be running lean. Listen for a pop or sneeze at the carb when you accelerate. my.02 cents

The stage 1 is a combo of air cleaner/breather and ECU download. The exhaust really has nothing to do with stage 1. The next step might be a mild cam and new download or SERT (Sream'in Eagle Race Tuner) or some other fuel management tool. Then there is the 95" kit, 103" kit and on and on and on...... Prepare to make the decision between your kids going to college or feeding your addiction to personalization of your ride

Thanks guys.... I am being educated minute by minute. the only bikes I have owned were all Honda's and the only mods I made were cosmetic.

See you on the road.

Never a stupid question. I also did the SE performance slip on's and the air cleaner kit. If it don't rain Sat. I'm going in to have the Computer Bulls#%t done. As of now the only thing I noticed was a Lil' hesitation when slowing down. Otherwise she runs great, Sounds great.
Anyhow just remember, If it ain't broke, Don't fix it !

I've ordered from Zanotti's and Chicago HD and I prefer Zanotti's, 20% or more off retail and they keep you well informed about your order.
