Default Northern dealers cheaper during winter?

A friend of mine told me the other day that the best deals are in the north during the winter. He said the reason is because all dealers have to buy the same number of bikes every month regardless how many they sell. I call BS on this. Does anybody know if this is true. If so I will be looking up north for my next ride? In Texas they get top dollar all year round except at the end of the year model. T.

I am Northern VA near DC and all the dealers here are MSRP all year long. I don't know why anyone would pay over MSRP.

HD dealers are not like car dealers. HD does not charge them for the bike till it is sold, there is no floor plan financing like car dealers have. They can afford to wait for a sale since there is no cost for them to do so.

Interesting ..... it's been a few years, but when I was working at the dealer, Monday morning sales meetings involved going over the "floor plan" to determine which bikes were "hot" and needed to move, so unless things have changed ??????

For the question, I live in Wisconsin and haven't seen any difference in time of year or geographical location to get a better price.

Chicago and Milwaukee area dealers charge MSRP year round. There are no seasonal discounts.

I live in North Dakota. The only "deals" during the winter months have to do with Labor charges for service work.

Someone posted two weeks ago that Capital HD in Madison, WI was offering $2,000 off MSRP on an '09 touring model. Last Christmas a post was made that a local St. Paul buyer got $2,000 off MSRP at St. Paul Harley.
The way the financial markets are going, I'd bet some deals could be had at Christmas time when most family money is earmarked for presents. Dealers will be looking to sell off as much as they can before the new year...... Also, if management gets bonused on units sold.....you can bet they will deal if they are close to getting their bonus dollar$
