2008 Street Glide Starter re-call?
My starter went out on my '08 Street Glide. My dealer is telling me it was due to a bad bearing. The MoCo is reporting that there is a backorder and new starters for this model wont be available until the 12th of October. My SG is stock with 18.5k on it.
Anybody else having a problem?
I am also wondering how the MoCo intends to compensate me for a brand new bike, (purchased new in May of this year), being down for three weeks? I am going to give the customer service a call today and will report back.

The dealer didnt report there being a re-call, though he suspected that there might be because he believed because the starters are on back-order at the MoCo that there are sufficient numbers of '08 SG's with the issue. The problem with the starter, according to my dealer, is a bad bearing, which is allowing oil to flow through and soaking the starter??
I initially brought it to the dealer for a slow leak from beneath the primary. After reviewing here and taking a close look at the bike, I speculated that it was a primary seal. I suggested this to my dealer when I took it in and they came back to me the next day reporting that the bearing in the starter was bad and that this is what was causing the leak...
