Traveling to the Outer Bank...What's happening?
Well my wife and I are planning a trip to the Outer Banks...So I have a few questions;
1) How is the weather/temperature at night in mid late October?
2) I think I heard of a Oyster festival in late October...if true when?
3) Is there something that may more interest us (in a wholesome way )?
Thanks, Tim
Maybe I will see you there

I just got back from there today. The weather this past week was mid to upper 70's. Not sure about mid-late October.
Morehead City was having a seafood festival today I believe. That is very far south on the Outer Banks. I don't know about an oyster festival.
As far as things to do, check out the lighthouses. You can climb the Cape Hatteras and Currituck lighthouse. There is a fee for both, but not too bad. Wright Brothers museum is nice. Ocracoke Island is real nice for a free ferry ride. If you want to go on further, take the paid ferry to Swan Quarter, then ride back through Manteo. Makes a real nice day ride. You will have to schedule the paid ferry ride, be sure to time everything right, as there are only a couple going out to Swan Quarter that late in the year.
Hope that give you a few ideas. My favorite place to visit the beach!

The Outer Banks are one of my favorite destinations - so much to see! I recommend taking the ferry over to Ocracoke Island from Cedar Island (east of Morehead City) - it's about a two hour trip and very scenic. Ocracoke Island has a lot to see - we love the decoy shops and the lighthouse. From Ocracoke Island, take the ferry (30 minutes) to Hatteras and you will find another amazing lighthouse and good seafood. From there, it's a great ride north to the Bodie Island lighthouse, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head. Just amazing sights and a great ride. Watch out for unexpected sand on the highway, as you are running sometimes within feet of the ocean and storms can wash sand and debris onto the roadway.

We are renting a beach house Nov 1-7 in Kitty Hawk, taking the SG, can't wait. We figure the weather and temps can't be any colder than a good summer day here in Maine on our coast. My brother, however, who lives in South Carolina and is going to ride over to stay with us, will probably freeze! Looking forward to our stay (and our first break after our busy season here!)
