no premium fuel

If your bike is stock it will be fine on regular. Only worry if it 85+F out as premium helps the cooling better. I know a guy with an 03 RK with 70,000 and he has never run premium and had 0 problems.
Regular burns hotter and actually makes your bike run better if its stock or not already leaned out from the factory like my 08.

regular gas
My 2000 RG has a recent HD reman. on the stock diplacement eng. with the stock CV carb. and is used for quite a bit of commuting (400 miles + a week) and seems to run much rougher on 87 oct. even with 4 oz. of 104+ per tank. I recently found a station with premium and filled up adding 4-5 oz. of 104+ and experienced a much smoother running eng. after just a few miles back on the road.

Could It Be...
Could it be that some of the bikes out there are running poorly on permium fuel because the premium sits longer in its storage tank? With today's fuel prices, I am sure there is very little demand for high test gas. There were many posts that indicated even Mercedes drivers are passing on the high test even though it is recommended by the manual. The shelf-life of ethanol-based fuel today is much shorter than days gone by, so it only stands to reason that a bike wouldn't run well on degraded fuel.
My fuel injected Heritage runs well on regular gas.
