Due to the fuel shortage i have been forced to fill up on regular. I swear it seems to run better than with the high grade stuff.

I've run mine on regular before because there are many remote places out West that only carry regular. I never noticed any trouble but it was mainly in cool weather. Hot weather may make a difference.

We made a left coast run in late August. Two Ultras, an 08 and my 07. We ran 87 octane without a ping in temps up to 110 dg F. I have had bad experience with octane boosters. Fouled plugs. We did not use any additives.

Go ahead and put 87 in the scoot. It won't hurt it, and IF you get spark knock go down to some industral paint supply store, buy a gallon of Tolulene, add about 10% of it to the ratio of fuel you have and ride. Tolulene is MUCH cheaper than the octane boosters, does the same thing, won't hurt anything and doesn't contain any additives you don't need.

Mine runs fine on Regular, but I can tell a difference when I use gas with Ethanol in it.
I look for stations that don't have it, but they are getting harder to find in my town.

out here i run 100vp at the pump, no pop or anything... but maybe order vp gas and mix it with 87, i have tried many with good results, it is expensive, but i dont trust octane boosters... ms109? (vp) and mix with 87...
with the 103 kit, i can tell the difference between the gases, but the vp gases are really designed for bike with higher compression...

Ride with two others 1 08 UC, 1 07 UC, 1 06 UC CVO. the guy with the '06 CVO has never run anything but regular, and gets the same mileage or better than we do, and we always run premium. And it doesn't ping either............go figure.

If your bike is stock it will be fine on regular. Only worry if it 85+F out as premium helps the cooling better. I know a guy with an 03 RK with 70,000 and he has never run premium and had 0 problems.
Regular burns hotter and actually makes your bike run better if its stock or not already leaned out from the factory like my 08.
