Default Advise on lowering 08 UC EG

Can anyone advise on lowering the rear on my 08 Ultra. I'm looking at the shocks (54631-02B) and they claim 3/4" lower. Any problems with not doing the front?
Also looks like a fairly easy task.........right.

Thanks in advance

I put the 1 3/4" rear lowering blocks on mine and am pleased with the results. About $60 if I remember correctly. Others have said that the change of shock angle is not good, but I have noticed no adverse effects.

Yes that will work, no you don't need to lower the front.

If you go any lower you may need to.

You will lose some ride quaility, it will have a stiff ride like a street glide. And you will lose some clearance on cornering, but most folks don't drag the floor boards anyway.

Hello! My first post here. . . .since 2004! I sold my 2005 Softail Std., and I am now doing some homework on the Streetglide. YES! I am without ride. . .
Anyways, when I do get the Streetglide, I KNOW I will need to lower it. . . I stand at 5'-7". . .and my inseam is like 33" to the floor. It sucks. . .but it's fixable when it comes to riding. . . Most likely, the front will need lowering since the Streetglide's rear comes already lowered via H.D. Profile shocks. I plan to get the front "Profile Suspension" kit, plus a low profile seat (either by Mustang, or an H.D. make). .
http://www.mustangseats.com/virtual_...source/83.html Mustang even has the ability to accept a rider backrest by H.D.! I've used Mustang seats before, and they are super nice. . .This should do the trick to help me plant my feet. It's safer too for when you need to back up etc. . .

I put the lowering shocks from harley on both my bikes and can really tell the difference. Ride quality is the same and I really like the way it looks on both bikes. My feet touch the ground better now as well.

Go with the H-D shocks, IMHO. I tried the $60 lowering blocks and it ended up costing me about $300 extra to have the rear wiring harness replaced at the dealer after the tire rubbed through the wires. At least they didn't charge me labor to replace the rear tire at the same time :-)
