Default size of apes?

I want to install a set of ape hangers on my RK. But I'm not sure as to what size to get. I want either 12 or 16 inch apes. I'm 5'9, not the tallest guy. I have to reach for the factory bars and they are too low. I plan to align the bars with the front end. I'm hoping that with the taller bars, they will come back to me more. Also don't want hands, above my shoulders. I want alot I know. Any thoughts or experience. Thanks.

I have 16" Wild One apehangers and I am 5'8". My seat is as low as possible and pushed back as far as possible.

I am very comfortable. Wild one also sells a 14" apehanger.

I have my apehangers pushed forward. The closer you have them to your body the more comfortable they are. I like the way they look forward.

Whatever you do...don't buy the 12" bars, they are way too small!

You will be happy with the 16" bars.

It's all personal prefference. I wouldn't tell anybody not to get 12" apes. They may love the look and feel. I really like my 12.5" apes.

If you want them in line with your shoulders get 12.5"'s. I ahve 16"'s and I am 5'9" as well, but my hands are a bit above my shoulders. Still comfy as hell.

I have 16" on my RKC. I am 6' and they are perfect. About shoulder high. Did a 2,000 mile ride after I put them on and no more shoulder pains.

I went with the Wild 1 Chubbys (WO572) 14".
Best thing I could have done, I am 5-8 and my hands are just below my shoulder line.
Not to mention that the bike just looks evil now.
Just my .02
