I put on mini apes and they feel so much better

 

well, this is what I had started putting on, (NYC Choppers 1 1/4 16") however, the stealership did not order the cables and hoses when I ordered the bars. (a total duh coming from 10" minis on 2" risers to 16" on 2")

That compounded things when they had forgot to order or sold other parts I was getting, so I just said, "forget it. Put the old bars back on and I'll deal with it when I have more time."

(my bike has been in there for a month due to some jk-@$$ trying to steal it and messing it up pretty good. It was going to have full internals too.

Another time perhaps or after my 10K warr is up. (only reason I am having them do work for now.) But, I really liked how they looked / where they were headed.

 

Don't know if my 13" Apes are true apes or not, but they are comfortable as hell.

 

Disagree. I rode to Daytona and Sturgis from Iowa with Apes. I neber had an issue, and my hands was at the shoulder. With my stock bars hands were asleep constantly.

 

First thing I did with both bikes was to get rid of those stock low down painful bars.

Maybe not as high as some but I've been a happy camper and rider ever since. As far as maneuvering there's no problems for me.

 

Guess a pic would have helped, need to update that sig pic, the bike is so different now.

 

I have 18's on the Softail.
People who tell me that you cannot handle a bike as well or that they are unsafe or that they must be sooo uncomfortable.......when I ask them if they ever tried riding a bike w/ apes, they usually give me a blank stare.

 

Wow old thread. Please see my standard response in Ape threads:

"I don't know why anyone would put apes on a bike. How stupid is that? Whats next fishtails???"

 

 

I’ve actually been looking at higher bars, because my hands fall asleep. Not looking for anything much higher than the fairing. I saw a set of 1 ¼ X 11” at Eastern Performance that look promising, but I am a little concerned of the width which is 37” tip to tip. I think stock bars on my Street Glide are 32-33”.
