Default RE: Oil Change....How often?

I change filter every 2500-3000 miles and Change crankcase oil between 5-7K miles. (recommended pattern for extended oil drain intervals)

The transmission and primary do not get contaminated by combustion acids therefore I only change them out once per year (in the winter) no matter how many miles I put on. If you read up on full synthetic (all I use) gear lubes on the Amsoil site, you'd see that they claim their syn gear lube is a lifetime product in car and truck rear ends....meaning it never has to be changed. So I have no worries at all that running my Redline Heavy duty shockproof for 10-20,000 miles or more would put my tranny at risk. The primary fluid is only there to lube the chain rollers and cool the clutch, so I don't worry about that either.

For those of you who are running full synthetics, how often are you changing out your fluids? I am running Amsoil MCV 20-50 in all holes. I've been doing the crankcase every 2000 and tranny and primary every 4000. Is this overkill?
As an Amsoil dealer, I can tell you that you have "Up to" double the factory oil change interval. Depending on you riding environment and condition. As for me, I live in Arizona, where it's more dusty. So, I normally change oil in all my cases every 4,000 miles.

Amsoil has also came out with One-Oil for "all" cases. IMHO, I found it better to use the Gear oil for the transmission, and 10w40 for my primary. Hope this helps.

Kahuna.
