You heard me correct but I am ashamed to say I messed myself up a little in the negotiating process. I had done my homework on the Classic and worked off those numbers for the Ultra. Cruise control on the Ultra is standard so that caused a $540 swing in their favor. So lets say I did a little better than $2K. I can live with that.
Am I allowed to say the name of the dealer in the forum? It is in Delaware.

I'm still confused on what kind of a deal you got. One time you state you got $200 off msrp, then you say you got over 2k off msrp. was the $200 a typo and you meant $2,000? Then with over 2k off, they are going to repaint it black pearl? A repaint is probably 2k. You say they threw in the repaint for free, then you say that the extra you paid for the Ultra puts off your paint job for a year.
Am I the only one confused?? Just sayin...

I just want to understand, because you paid less for an Ultra Classic than I did for an Electra Glide Classic. You can't do that, or can you?
Quote #1 "ONE Ultra that had everything I was looking for"
#2 "I got an additional $200 off MSRP and they threw the Black Pearl in for free."
#3 "Got almost 3K off MSRP b4 they snuck in a $200 processing fee in at the very end"
#4 "Oh, they bought me and the family a decent lunch and a the wife and I got t-shirts so we can tell people where we bought it."
#5 "The extra I paid for an Ultra puts off my paint job for a year. I can live with that"
Would you please be straight forward on the price you got. I will be happy to tell you my price, if you ask. I am confused!!
Are you sure it is not a 2008 model opposed to a 2009 model.
Thanks very much for your help..

Ya I'm still very confused. I just bought a new left over '08 EGC in August.

MSRP $20,242 (with dealer prep, freight, etc etc included in that price)
2k off=$18,242

Traded in an '05 Yammie V-Star 1100 Classic. Book ave. trade value =$3,900
They gave me 5k for the trade on paper.

Take another $1,100 off the $18,242 and the way I figure, they actually sold the bike to me for $17,142.

With the trade, the out the door cost to me was $13,242. I think I got a pretty good deal.

Not that it really is going to change my life, but could you break down the deal so we understand? I have to assume you bought an '09? but not sure.

I'm sorry. I have not gone back and looked but I obviously typo'd. I was attempting to get $2K off MSRP on a Classic in vivid black b4 I walked in the door. I was going to paint it green with flames. I work at an auto dealer so I was getting a big hook-up on the paint job. I ended up buying an Ultra in Black Pearl for $2,250 off MSRP. The price difference between the Classic I intended to buy and the Ultra I actually bought is most of the money I was going to spend on the paint job. Now paint will wait a year.

I paid $21K b4 tax and tags on an 09' Ultra, black Pearl, w/ alarm and ABS.

Sorry for the confusion. Does it make sense now?

I have got to put my numbers together to know exactly how to compare your price to my price.
My book tells me this...
MSRP...20,999 for bike and paint, in this case black...795.00 for ABS...345.00 for security...375.00 for freight...Grand Total of 22,514.00...This price reflex no fees whatsoever. Straight out of book. OK, you paid 21,000 even, with no fees...That comes to 1,515.00 below MSRP. If that is right, you still got an excellent price.

Does that sound about right, because if you got that much off it looks like I payed to much.
Thanks for your help.

Hyperfocal,

Everything you said is correct. The Ultra I bought has Black Pearl which adds $529. My number of $2250 had a $200 processing fee mixed in. To simplify we can act as if there was no processing fee and I paid exactly $2,044 under MSRP.

That doesn't mean you paid too much though. If you bought from a local dealer then you have started a relationship. That sales person has bills to pay. They may give you discounts on accesories. They may take care of your first maintenence. They might over value your trade when you get the itch for being a previous customer. I get none of those things since they are almost 3 hours away.

Don't beat yourself up. Enjoy the ride. And what a great ride it is!!!
