Default chroming rotors

Im thinking of having the rotors chromed on 09 uc..
shop wants to chrome the whole rotor, including braking surface. They state that the chrome on the braking surface will just wear off....
my thought is that it will flake off and tear or chip around the edges, not making a nice circle.

Anyone with experience?

The chroming process does things to the metallurgic structure of the rotor. I would avoid that at all cost. If you want shiny rotors, have yours polished. They are stainless steel after all.

You mean the chrome floating rotors HD sold me are "metallurgically" inferior to the stock ones?

chrome would have too slippery of a service to support the forward motion of a 600 plus pound bike and all that energy. The unpolished service of any brake rotor creates the necessary friction that is needed to bring the bike to a quicker stop in the shortest distance possible.

There's no difference between the polished rotors on my current '05 and the stock rotors on my previous '05.
