Default OEM Stator much thinner than replacement

Title is wrong. My original stator is much wider than the oem replacememnt.

I ordered the oem replacement stator for my 05 Ultra. i get teh new one, and it is much thinner than the one I took out of the bike. Are you able to just drop in this thinner stator? I would ecpect teh amperage to be reduced from the one that went bad. Seems to me like I have the 48amp that went bad, and recived the 38 amp.

Any advice would be great. i ordered the oem Drag Specialties, Part# 2112-0206 from Dennis Kirk. They say is will work, but come on. What do you think?

Also, if my rotor is deeper, will this cause any trouble?

I'm confused, your title says the original is thinner than the replacement, but your description says the replacement is thinner than the original.

Default Is an aftermarket "OEM" stator for FLH thinner?

Title is wrong. My original stator is much wider than the oem replacement.

Both Dennis Kirk and J&P say the new replacememnt stator will be thinner. I am talking about a quarter inch or so. They say that the windings are the same length, but thinner gauge wire.

I am having a hard time believing that.

If it were me, I would replace the 48 amp with another 48 amp. Why would you go to a 38 amp replacement?

Default I'm just a tight wad

I am going to go with proven parts, that work with the bike. I am unsure of my part from Dennis Kirk. The Drag Specialty part i got from them seems fine and all, it is not identical to my stator. As a result, I am going with the Cycle Electric product.

Thanks for setting me straight.
