The Screamin' Eagle heavy duty will firm it up nicely without making it harsh. The extra heavy duty or I think it's called "racing heavy duty" would likely be too stiff for street use.

What I did when I powdercoated my lowers was take a bottle of HD E type oil and a bottle of the SE Heavy and mixed them together to have it in the middle of the road weightwise. You could also just swap it out to Bel ray and be done with it.

i just did mine yesterday with the s/e heavy duty. marked improvement firmer ride with more input felt from the road. need 1 3/8 wrench and new rubber washers for top. also get the button head bolts and copper washers for the drain holes. the phillips strip out very easy. total cost around 20$. 2 bottles needed. 10.8 ozs. or 319 cc in each side

Fresh oil in itself will firm it back up, some.

Go w/ the Heavy Duty or the stock oil. Even though the new oil is fresh, it still give a squishy feeling to the front. Changed to the heavy on all my bikes several years ago and won't go back. Better handling and no harsh front end dip.

When I lowered my front end with Progressive Springs I went with HD SE oil and it firmed up the ride but not to crazy. It worked out well in the bike will be harder to bottom out. If I was rolling stock, I'd keep the standard HD oil in there, but if you go low, id advise to put the SE oil in. Progressive recommends going with standered HD oil, but I wanted to play it safe with the bottom out issue that some have had once they have lowered the front end of their bikes.

This has been my experience at least.
