Default Apes on roadking?

I`m thinking about putting apes on my roadking. I would like to maybe go with 12 inch beefy bars. Is this too high to look good? I would appreciate any suggestions and pictures of any touring bikes with apes. Thanks in advance!

I definitely don't think 12" is TOO high.

Dude, do a search on Apes or Heritage (the bars slap right on a RK), or mini-apes. . .

There's even a thread with people's pics (search Road King (or RK) apes)

I went with the 14 in apes (WO572) from Wild 1 chubbys.
I am 5-8 and they are super comfortable, and look freakin awsome

Who cares what they look like? I do nothing just for looks, it's all about comfort and the ride. Let em say what they want, as long as your happy, that's what it's about IMO.

Thumbs up Apes

Don't get apes for looks, get them for comfort. Example, I'm 5'8 & whenever I road with stock bars, my back /shoulders would kill me. I switched to heritage bars but still had trouble with my reach. I went with 16" apes and 8 over braided cables for brakes and clutch. It worked out great for me, my hands are just below my shoulders (per florida law) and they are VERY comfortible. You will definatly have to leard riding differtenly with larger apes. Example, at very slow speeds it's difficult to minuver, you will make much wider turns.

Apes are cool. I like my WO 508s but wish I would have done the 518s.

I have 18" LA Chopper apes on my rk custom. I love them. I am 6'1", and weigh around 300. My back thanks me for adding the apes. I can't begin to explain what a difference it makes. There is a pic of my bike in my sig. ya have to click it, to see it. I haven't figured out how to make it back on the bottom since the forum switched over.
