So did you give your wife a good spanking for dropping the ball?

True Story, A buddy of mine at work, who was leaving his wife (because she was screwing around on him) caught her pouring sugar in the gas tank. He was smart enough not to start the bike, and had his bike picked up and taken to the dealer to clean up the mess. He is now divorcing the B@&!h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't think you are being honest about your oil change.

I want a touring bike I can rely on, one I can take on several day single trips to several states without worry.
Bash the rice burners all you want but for the most part they are reliable in that aspect. I am not convinced that buying a new HD would prove to be as reliable. That's just me and to each his own. My mind is not made up 100% on this yet. Interesting I recently sat through a seminar given by an HD exec who related the story of HDs comeback from near bankruptcy. He stated that HD did in fact take focus off of quality and innovation and focused on being "friendly" and a type of peer pressure selling that made the comeback successfull. He gave an excellent 1 hour program and that alone made me look at a new Harley. I am sure there are lots of good people riding HDs in the world and some who can even accept and respect those who ride other branded bikes too.
go sit in the goldwing forums then report back from their perfect world........
seems your the one with nothing good to say here.

hey ballpeen did you find out anything? i just picked up my o2 rk from the dealer and there is a bearing on the main gear that has about a 3/8 ball bearings and there is also about a 1/4 ball bearing on each side of the shaft. they are really protected by the design of the bearing, if you have one of each of those out of its bearings you should i think have shavings and or small peices on your magnet

While dumping the oil I found these 3 bearings. one 1/4 in, and the other two 3/8 in. and I really dont know if they came from the tansmission or the motor. My first thought was maybe the 3/8 from the clutch shift block?? I re-filled with new oil, there are no strange sounds, no vibrations, the clutch lever feels fine, So I called the dealer, they said they would have to test ride it, and if they could not hear anything I would have to wait until something goes, Not what I wanted to hear. If anyone has any thoughs I would appreciate it... Thanks Tim
Ok we have 3 oil changes here. What is the likelihood that these ball bearings were in their from the first factory fill of oil? Practically zero. Because one or more of these bearing would have shown up at the first oil change or the second. Was this the first time you changed the oil on the lift? Was the angle different on the first two oil changes? Again unlikely, but maybe ballpeen could clarify no change in the angle? Again just trying to consider all of the remote non-obvious possibilities. The last and most reasonable possibility is if likely that ballpeen used a funnel then its possible that the bearings came from the oil quart bottles out the hole through the funnel into the motor. Maybe he turned away or walked away while emptying the oil bottle in the funnel and didn't see them drop out of the oil bottle. Even if he turned away would you here the bearings hit the bottom of the crankcase? Not necessarily the thickness of the oil would create resistance and maybe they would just gently settle on the bottom of the crankcase with no sound. We know they would fall throught the oil slower than just dropping them throught the air. So the sabotage could have come from someone working on the filling line at the oil company or the vendor that makes the plastic bottles for the oil company.

For there to be three bearings coming loose from somewhere in the motor without more coming loose and causing a catastrophic failure by now just seems to indicate that the bearings were externally introduced into the motor.
