Aaron, I am not an mechanical engineer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Anyway, IMO your design is missing one important thing. The fact that the tubes that are going up to the pan are not welded to the 1/4" plate. All the shearing forces are being transferred to the bolts just above the bolt heads.. instead of to the pan. By welding the tubes to the plate you will have less chance movement.
The tubes, plate and the bolts need to be a precise fit so there is no movement in the design. Again, this is just my opinion.

I agree with that! That would definitely make it stronger because the tubes would be "holding on" to the pan and it's indentations. Thanks for the comment!

[QUOTE=Yachtman;3899133]Bad Piggy,

Let's see. Identical??

Alloy Art: Flush mount bolts. Three mounting points between both brackets. Looks like an engineered piece to me. Cost more yes, but really..........come on.

Aaron's: None of the above. Creativity and desire, absolutey.

QUOTE]

Sorry Yachtman,
I don't recall posting the word "identical"

What I did post was "similar"
And yes, the 2 are similar.
Both have plates at the bottom of the oil pan. Both use spacers to extend the plate down.

Similar, not identical.

Identical would be copyright infringement.

Somebody put some Big Boy pants on and just say:

"I wish I had thought of it and I'm jealous".

A couple of the guys on here actually MAKE stuff and like to share it with others for OUR benefit. Get over it all you "I'm not an Engineer..." and "I'm not a Lawyer..." guys.

"It's got 10 more screws and they are counter sunk!!! Sheesh... Like Oh My God!!!!" Just playin folks...

And dude who made this thing, yeah it looks great, well done. Weld the stuff together and it will function no better or worse than the parts those guys are raping people for 300+. BUT don't be tacky and a Johnny-come-lately and try to make a buck off of it.

Give the plans away. You'll earn more respect and honor that way. Plus think of the friends!

We already got a dude on here that copies parts from other manufacturers and then sells it to site members. It's ok though, he's a forum sponsor.

Sooo don't do that. It's lame.

Yeah we will get over it. There are some engineers here that see fundamental flaws in the design. Think about the torque and stress placed on the alloy bolt holes. Over time they will come loose and wear out the threads. Yes you can retighten them but for how long? If you want to exert that type of sway movement and pressure on your lower alloy case then feel free. 10 more screws and counter sunk holes aren't going to help either.
Just playing ...

BTW ArronOregon, Good initiative on building your stab. Even though I am not confident in its desgin for the long term, it looks like a good piece of engineering. See you down range. K6

BadPiggy,

Isn't this you? Or is it your copy infringement other personality........... PaLEEEESE..

[["yachtman,
Not to rain on your parade, but this is pretty much how the Alloy Art setup is built.
They just clean their setup up with a CNC using billet aluminum.
Other than that, pretty identical"]]
