Default My speaker upgrade (DUW)

Hey y'all.

One of the things I wanted when I bought the new SG was to add the lowers and a four-speaker HogTunes setup. I got that done this week. I first applied DynaMat (you can get it at Best Buy) to the inside of the fairing and to the inside of the lower glove boxes. The speaker upgrade was easy, the instructions were good and the entire job, including DynaMat, took about 3 1/2 hours as I took my time. This setup rocks! The sound has so much depth and texture and I even had to turn the bass down to about 5-6 bars. That is with a lot of wind noise from that short little air deflector that comes stock. It should be even better when my Clearview windshield comes in.

Take a look:

Speakers installed in fairing and amp for lower speakers velcroed to radio:

DynaMat applied to the main fairing:

Thanks for looking.

The DynaMat helps turn the fairing into an acoustical chamber and helps with bass response. If you want an example, pop your fairing off and listen to your stereo - no depth, no bass, not texture. Putting your fairing back on brings that back out. The comparison between a plain fairing and one with DynaMat is similar to that. It is not a miracle worker, but it really helps.

Does the amp do the upper and lower speakers? How much is just the amp? Im thinking of installing the Hogtunes in the batwing only. I was going to just change the speakers but if the amp is plug and play and not much money I will do it also.

I just installed a set of HogTunes speakers and it REALLY made a big difference. Now I'm gonna have to take apart again to put the DynaMat in!!

The amp powers the lower fairing speakers only. The radio powers the uppers. If you are just going with the batwing, I don't think you need an amp and you will probably be surprised with the increase just the upgraded speakers provide.

Nice looking setup, I've been thinking about adding speakers to my lowers and putting quick disconnects on them as they always come off in the summer.
