Default To Buy or Not? Wallstreet and Banks???

Just when I am lookn' hard at the 09's, the major finanicial institutions are dropping like flies and Wall Street looks like its in for a hard time. Doesnt look
like a good time to purchase ANY large ticket item in todays economy.

Is YOUR job secure? Do you have enough disposable income to meet the payments? The sky is falling, the sky is falling. not trying to be a smarta$$, if you want it and feel you can afford it , go for it. The clock's ticking and you're getting older every day, if there's something you want to do, you better do it.

i kinda thought the same thing.
but if you in the position to buy. then buy, if everyone stops spending and hides their money in their bed things will get worse.
as for me i say spend responsibly!
credit will be harder to get, thats a good thing
and if possible buy AMERICAN first! we all live here and work here. i did my part i ordered a 09 ultra. well thats how i explained it to my wife

If you wait until you can afford it,you may be too old to ride it.But really, just use common sense.Times are hard but hopefully they won't stay that way long.Good Luck!

I'm in the market for an '09 FLTRSE3, and with the hit to my 401k the last three days I'm starting to wonder if I should just sit tight and stay with my '07 SG.

You don't say what you're ridin' now. Do you have a bike? Are you makin' payments on it? Do you like what you have? Do you *need* an '09, or just *want* one?

Motorcycles are generally toys. If you have the assets to upgrade your toys without damaging the responsible side of your life then it's not a problem. If you're riskin' money needed for food, housing, savings, etc. then a new toy is foolish. Take it from an old guy, live with the toy you have till you can pay cash for the new ones. You'll have just as much fun, & life will be a lot easier in times like these.

Raaze, so far the hit anyone is taking on their 401k or other investments is only on paper. It isn't really real until you get scared and cash out, or move stocks to bonds or cash. I try not to look at mine, I think given a little time everything will settle and the market will continue moving up. All the government bail-outs bother me more than the general condition of the market. Before you know it all the big companies are going to be looking a Washington as their fail-proof gravy train.

I kind of blame the media. They are the prophets of doom and gloom. I think it will get better, but the question is how long is it going to take!

The answer to your question. Do what works best for you and your family, but riding a new bike will sure make you forget about the stock market while you have your knees in the breeze.

I want to see those responsible go to jail, ie Enron, I remember these same Wall Street fatcats pushing for them to be tried for cooking the books, ended up with Sarbanes Oxley act, did not do much to control these people. An orange jump suite for all of them. As far as buying a bike, go for it, this "crisis will pass and we will be all the stronger for it. I am pumping as much monety as I can into the Market, remember the last "Crisis", great buying opportunity. Dont ever bet against the American economy, it is the most dynamic, resielient and robust in the world over the long term.
