To Buy or Not? Wallstreet and Banks???

At sixty plus I have saved, invested and just wonder if I will have to work forever because the stock market has swallowed a large percentage of it. I think it's better to enjoy the money you earn by riding a new motorcycle, if you can afford it. If you wait too long, you may never get the chance.

I totally disagree. It's a great time to buy. Most things are on sale big time, houses where I live are half of what they were, my father in law just got $15,000 off a new truck.
I saw this coming and borrowed against my 401K when it was up last year and dropped that money into a 2004 fat boy the former owner had built for $42,000. I paid less than half of that (a lot less).
Go find a deal and buy something.

More than was asked... sorry
When the market crashed in 87 I was an Investment Advisor in my own business. I was admitted to the Registry of Financial Planning Practioner's and all I did was tell me clients to by... it was all on sale. We made very few moves, because we planned our strategy, did our homework, and worked our plan. Very few of my clients were hurt except those who listened to the doomsayers. Back then the most brilliant statment was buy Paul Harvey. He said, "The only one who gets hurt on a roller coaster ride is the person who gets off early." If you have a good advisor, a good planner, and trust in the investment mix, don't worry. If not, start shopping, and I'd buy the bike. I'm out of that business for years, but it is a great business for an honest guy who plays things straight. Look for a CFP in your area who has good references. You can call the CFP board and they will refer you to folks in your area who meet very high standards.
Personally I would not work with someone unless they were a CFP
or a CHFC. I'm biased, but I know the ropes and the ups and downs.
