To Buy or Not? Wallstreet and Banks???

It's all about perception and right now the media has convinced everybody that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. Seems to me, we always get a little shaky in an election year. This time seems to be worse than others but I am one of the ones who still has great faith in the American people. We are resilient and will recover quickly. Some will tell you we're in a recession- we're not. Some will tell you unemployment is high- it's not. Some will tell you we're bankrupt- we're not- yet. Our problem isn't the economy, it's the scumbag politicians who are spending OUR money like a bunch of drunken sailors. Hopefully, this election cycle will make these clowns remember who they work for- I doubt it but maybe.
So, if you can afford the bike- GET IT! You'll at least have good transportation if things really go down the toilet.

Wait until Christmas when the dealers are hurting to move units. Right now the dealers are not dealing because of the '09 hype is still strong and people are buying. In a couple of months when the snow is deep and the showroom traffic is slim.......It's dealing time!
JU
p.s. I love how the dealers are telling everyone that production is limited and that they only have one or two of this color coming in....... Ya right, as if the factory is going to shut down until next summer before they start making bikes again!!!! What are the dealers going to sell in the meantime...scooters from China?

Think about it this way. Many stock mutual funds are down 20%-40% this year. Having a Harley in the garage may be better then having money in the bank(many have failed) or in the stock market. I picked up a older super glide a few years back for $6,000 as a second bike. I would guess I could sell it now for $7K-$8K. Think about all the people that have lost $100K on a house, or many of the bank stocks are down 90%, remeber the .com stock bubble crash? Old harley Iron has outpreformed resale wise even though prices are low now.

In uncertain times like these, if you can pay cash for the bike WITHOUT depleting your nest egg to the point you can not live 6 months without any income, by all means go for it. If you can't or if you must finance, I'd wait until after the election. I believe if the Dems control BOTH houses of congress with large majorities and Obama wins the presidency we're not in for a recession, but a full blown 1929 style depression! The rich folks won't pay more taxes, they'll just move their money into the overseas markets and Swiss bank accounts and let the economy go to hell. Obama talks a good game with all the give away proposals, but somebody has to pay for it and it won't be "rich" people. Our country is broke, in SERIOUS debt and we no longer have the massive industrial base to pull us out of the hole. Neither party has a sound fiscal policy to remedy the situation and we "little people" are left to tote the load. Don't get caught with your "drawers down"!
I just watched "Yomama and his sidekick's speeches on the "fix" for the economy. All I can say is it's sad we have two candidates for President and Vice President with so little knowledge of the workings of our economy and country.
