60 year old biker babe goes the distance!
My wife and I just got back from our Pacific Coast tour, 4265 miles in 13 days. We saw it all--Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, Great Salt Lake, Sierra Nevadas, Tahoe, Yosemite NP, Bixby Creek Bridge (Bronson's bridge) and Hearst Castle on the Pacific Coast Highway, Grand Canyon. I would try to describe these, but I would run out of superlatives.
This was my wife's first real tour and was twice as long as I have been before. I am proud of her. There were times when she was talking about a rental car to get home, especially after I dumped her for the third time doing a u turn trying to get back to the Bixby Creek Bridge. The first two spills came in a scenic turnout that was deep pebbles with no steering whatever in Yosemite. But she hung in there. We did about 350 miles per day with frequent rest stops.
I had a great time and she's not saying she will never do it again, which means it is time to start planning the next one--Pacific Northwest, Glacier NP, Yellowstone NP. All of you who are getting on in years, get going!!! Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Grab it while you can!
The bike ran like a champ. Harley builds one hell of a tough touring machine!

Congratulations!!!
Way to go, my 57 year old bike babe has done about 2,000 miles with me on weekends and various dinner trips. We did an overnighter to Gettysburg and it was the highlight of my summer. I hope I never drop the bike with her on it. It is great buying biker clothers for her!!!!

Makes me realize I need a vacation. The last trip was up to Alberta and down through Banff National Park, about 2000 miles. It was abolutely beautiful. I had never seen a glacier before. No more long trips on the horizon this season, just a weekend trip to Friday Harbor in a couple weeks. Two-up road trips are the whole reason for the Ultra to be in the garage. It sure makes for a good time.

Holy Cow !! Sixty years old used to seem really old, but as I passed that bench mark some time back I have come believe that age is just a number. Sounds like you folks had a great time and you are so lucky to still be able to share those experiences. Wish you the best for future outings.

Congrats on the cool trip and I have to say your an inspiration to me. I'm a little over half your age and hope we can still get out and go like that. I was proud of my lady too when we did 400 miles this past weekend and it was only the last 2 hours that she got a little shifty. After two major surgeries it was a maiden voyage to see how she could handle it and handle it she did. Now that we've armed her with chaps ( she gets cold rather easy) look out here we come. I've been planning an overnighter for Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway for the fall when the colors turn. If anyone knows of any good and inexpensive places to stay along the route I'm all ears. A little poor after buying the new bike but worth every penny.
Can't wait to hear about your next trip.
