is the only difference in the 07-08 exhaust systems the O2 sensor bungs? If I got a system made for an 07-08 and I plugged the bungs, would it bolt up to my 06?

 

I dont think that it will. The 06's engine is smaller and I dont think that the exterior dimensions are exactly the same. This will cause probs

 

I think that it would probably work. The best I know the difference is internal, not external as to a size comparison between those year models.

 

Yes it is the same. You just have to plug the O2 sensor holes.

 

Why would you want 07 or 08 exhaust? Is there any benefit?

 

I don't know if the entire system will fit, but the mufflers sure will. I installed a set from a 2007 Street Glide on my 2003 Ultra. The bike now runs and sounds much better due to less restriction.

 

i just put a 07 street glide exhaust on a 02 electra glide. it fits the exact same as the old exhaust, just get some o2 plugs from reinhart.

I called Vance and Hines for this exact reason. The six speed trans is a little larger and the bends around the trans are slightly different. He said that it may still fit, but the bends are different to accomodate the trans.
