Question Oil Anyone???????

People seem to have differant opinions when it come to checking oil on the touring models so I thought Id get a few more here.......We all know its best to check your oil hot but some think it should be checked sitting on the jiffy stand and some think you should have the bike upright.... It doesnt seem to make a real big change on the dipstick but Id sure like to know what a few of you folks think............

Last time I checked my owner's manual, it says check the oil level while on the jiffy stand
(we always called them "kickstands" way back) , on level ground.

Like Troll said, level ground on the kickstand ............ jiffystand sounds like it belongs on a Vespa.

Touring models and Dynas, on kickstand. Softails, up right on level ground. So, if the oil tank isn't under your a$$, you check it on the jiffy!

You are right...people DO have different opinions. However, just do what your MOM says, and you won't have a problem.

You DO have a MOM, don't you?

And to add one more confusing bit to the mess, the manual differs from the printing on the dip stick. One says screw in the dip stick and the other says don't screw down the dip stick when checking level. Now what?

if the dipstick pivots then on jiffy stand, straight stick bike must be straight up and down.

My 09 Heritage says to check it on the jiffy stand, not upright.
