hey, I'm not sure if I can make it to Dale's house...is there a place later on in Daytona (I know, look for the guys in black HD shirts drinking a beer) where those who can't make it to Dale's to get together?
This was what I was saying earlier. A time and place when almost all expected will "physically" be in town. I figured not everyone would be here at the same time. I'm not sure how else we could arrange a back up location.
Well folks so far, Biketoberfest 2008 is winding up to be a not so very prospective one this year. It won't stop raining here and has been for the last 4 days, non-stop. The forecast has rain, thunder and lightning every day right up to Wednesday the 15th of October. This will make for a very un-enjoyable event for all. I am hoping the weather will break, the sun will stay out and dry up the ground but I'm not believeing it, as I look out the window each day and hear the thunder and lightning over head. Driving rain and soaking wet black-top make for a dangerous combination on the back of a motorcycle. Well, I guess well just have to see. If you are coming, "definitely" pack your rain gear. I'll keep you's posted. 6 days to go.
Local forecast must be different than the Weather Channel:
I dunno man. I've been riding my bike to work every day and except for an occasional shower it has been good riding weather here every day. Even if it does rain it usually doesn't last long. I'm doing Daytona Saturday rain or shine!
Or else you're trying to scare us all away and have it all to yourself!
Yea that's it. I want it all!! The Weather Chanel forecast you mention has thunderstorms right through until Tuesday the 14th. Remember, this is Florida. One town could be sunny and the next town over is pouring rain. Hell, it has literally rained some where in the state of Florida almost all summer long. Very few days it didn't rain here. We hardly ever got a chance to ride. I'm no worring about it, nor should you. It's just a drag to do anything while the ground is soaking wet. I'm just making those who are coming from out of state aware to pack their "rubbers". As 1 of 2 said, rain or shine I'll be there taking part in the festivities. Are you packed yet??? 4 days to go!!!!

As a Floridian, I must mention that the rain seldom lasts for more than an 1/2 hour or so. There is nearly always a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain, but don't let that deter your riding. If that slim chance occurs, set it out under a bridge or in a bar. I will have to disagree that we 'hardly ever got a chance to ride'. There are very few days during the year that you can't ride here in Florida.
We will be in Daytona around 2 pm Going to start at the patch and work are way to Ormond beach One of us will have a Fl crew shirt on stop and say Hi Or lets bring back bike weeks code word.

A half an hour of turrential Florida rain is enough to put the kybosh on anything. 'Always'? During the dry season which starts October 15th, it gets so dry for so long that they pass a law that any and all open fires are outlawed. "We", did hardly ever get a chance to ride. I don't run the risk of nor have I enjoyed getting caught in down pours. I have, and found out fast that it would be the last time I would ever get caught riding in the rain again. Being soaked to your draws on the back of a motorcycle does this to you. The actual state of the weather this past summer is no exaggeration. It was lousy riding weather all summer long. There were days that it rained all day and night for days at a time. Only a week here and there were availiable to ride in the Daytona Beach area. It's raining right now as I reply to this post. At this point it doesn't matter. The ground is so soaked right now, it'll stay that way right through until Biketoberfest is long over.
