Default noisy valve train. Any solution?

I know this is an old and hard ridden horse but, has any one been able to quiten down the added noise of the valve train after only adding .510 lift cams and adjustable push rods. Is it the lifters, improper adjustment, i.e. to loose or to tight? ????

Did you try roller rockers? I heard they quiet the top end a bit. I don't know first hand though.

Whats your oil pressure like? Those cams should be as quiet as stockers, how was stock setup. If the heads were off watch the stack when going back together at pushrod area.Slight pushrod contact can add to noise.Tapered adjustables help in this area. Rocker clearances can be noisey-some 07 owners have stated that clearances have been found on the wide side of limits.Pushrod adjustment can cause noise if adjustables were used.Does bike start out quiet and get noisier once hot? Being its an 07 how was your crank runout?

As I found out also, I went with the Head Quarters tc575 for the chain on my 2007 RG. At first I went with the instructions that were with the quick adj pushrods. I had a noisy exhaust rod, which btw is only like .530 lift. After talking with Kevin from HQ, sometimes you need to find the "sweet" spot of a lifter. Sometimes it takes an extra couple of turns to quiet her down. Some times once you change cams you cannot totaly eliminate the valve train noise. Bob woods cams by nature are noisey for they have fast ramps and acuate the valves quickly, even at .510 lift, look at the timing of the cams. Mine now does make more noise than stock, but still it is quieter than my EVO with a wood's cam.

I put S&S 510 G's in my 99 1.5 years ago and it got quieter. I used S&S adj pushrods and Feuling HP+ lifters. Did you put new lifters in with the cams? Also did you count the faces right when adjusting the pushrods for your TPI on the rods used? If you have one making noise, it would most likely be loose.

Did the same as Bryan on my 01 Ultra a few years back. Mine too got quieter after the mod. Same exact setup, too. Now with over 80,000 on the clock, mine tends to get noisy in the hotter months, so I've been adding Lucas Oil Stabilizer when I do my oil changes. That keeps it quiet and cooler. Also boost the oil pressure a bit.

Geoff, This really helps during the dog days of summer to keep things quiet for those of us with them high mileage older bikes. These guys are great to deal with, and shipping is cheap.

There's an indy in my area that carries Redline, too. Thanks for the info.
