Default Rain Gaiters

How well do the rain gaiters work?
are there any other brands that work as well, that are a bit cheaper?

I have used a friends befor and they worked pretty good, but $70 is too much for me to spend on them. I will just buy a second pair of boots

I have the HD Gaiters and love them, they work well. Bought the wife a pair of aftermarket ones that work just as well and a heck of a lot cheaper. Name escapes me now, but I can look when I shoot home for dinner later.

I have a set of these..

http://www.exigentbikecovers.com/accessories.htm

bought them in Daytona a couple of years ago for $12.00.

Honestly, I've never used them but I guess it's better to have them and not need them that need them and not have them.

I have a pair of gaitors and have ridden in three and a half days of rain, straight.
It is nice to get off the bike, take off the rain gear and be able to walk...SLOSH free.
Halrey brand is a bit 'pricey' (go figure), but they are what I bought.
Used them twice in a year.
