Thumbs up

http://www.yorkopenhouse.com/
Lots of things to do this year.
Were locals to York so we go every year
Down from the plant is San Carlos - The Hop with outside bar and vendors( has a big yellow hot rod on top of bar). Across the street is Holiday Inn. Vendors there too. both of which are one block west of Harley Plant.
Check out along rt 30 for vendors.
At the York Fair grounds (exit rt 74- york, dover ) going west from plant go left to york. fair grounds on right. ( flat track races on sat.)
Sunday Has White Rose MC hill climbs http://www.whiterosemc.org/
Friday night is York Bike Night with parade and such in the city.
Most of this info is on york open house website.
Glad to have all come out and play...

Probably been half a dozen times or so. I believe open house days are the only time the Softail plant is open for tours. Paint shop has been off limits in the past and assume it still is. Regular plant can be toured at times other than the open house.

My recommendation is kind of like I feel about Las Vegas and New York City - everyone needs to visit them at least once.

true - softail assembly only during open house. regular assembly line open all year, EXCEPT when they've switched to new model year and new models not announced yet - then abbreviated tour (no assembly line). as far as paint shop, been twice and they point to a wall and say "it's behind that wall"

Worth it in my opinion to go.

Been there at least 10 times. We always liked the vendors, and the tour of the assembly plant is something you must do, if you haven't. But it got so crowded, and traffic became a mess, that we kind of just quit going. Perhaps that's been fixed with a little city planning. Haven't been for about 5 years.

If you haven't been in 5 years you're not going to recognize the access point - New intersection layout, new parking lots, side street closed. I believe it was about 3 years ago when all this occurred. Could have been longer. Times flies when you start to get old.

It's excellent and well worth the trip. I'll be there again this year.
