Change oil before winter storage or in the spring?
#22
Oil companies wanted the 3,000 mile or 3 month phrase stuck in people/sheople's minds so they would change the SINGLE weight oils of the days when that ad campaign started in the late 1940's. Now, that phrase is completely out of date and no longer an accepted practice with multi-weight oils with additive packages to help clean/and protect the engine far better than ever before. Natural oil can easily go for 5,000 miles that H-D recommends and full synthetics can go for even longer.
Oil companies are far too rich from my fuel bills to give them any more money

Heh Heh I had to work in Michigan one year and during the winter months, the roads were never salt less. Heck, if there was a hint of snow falling, they were salting the interstates before the clouds moved in - if they moved in.

I did change oil last year
Drop the battery tender on it for 24 hours every 3 or 4 weeks and even sat on the bike dreaming of days past and days to come.

Winter Storage what is this thing you are talking about. Isn't winter storage when you OL switches the closet around to get rid of the summer cloths. Really kidding aside, do nothing int he winter live in NY and there are enough sunny clear days with clear roads to get the bike out. Temperature not an issue unless it is blew 30 degrees.
