Default How loud is too loud...

I'm thinking of opening up my stock 08 SG with a stage 1 and pipes, etc... What I want to know from you guys with aftermarket pipes is "Did it make a difference in being able to hear the tunes from the stock system?" after you did it? I would like a meaner sounding ride but I won't sacrifice the tunes. Thanks for any replies.

It depends on the setup that you go with. I have a set of Rinehart TD's on my RK and i can have a conversation with my wife without even raising my voice. I have also seen bikes with Sampson Street Sweepers that will make your ears bleed. The Only Thing that I recommend is go and listen and talk. Find out what you like by listening to other pipes and then ask people what they are when you hear the ones you like.

Somebody on the forum made a good suggestion the other day. Go to a bike night and listen to the different configurations of pipes on your model. If one stands out, ask the riders what they run. I run the Rinehart True duals with the Stage I and find the tone deep but not obnoxious. I can still talk to the wife without yelling. (Pixs attached)

I have 08 SG and added the 2.0 Rush Slip-Ons and the SE Breather with the stage one download. Nice sound with no need to dyno. The major difference I noticed was how much better the bike takes off from a dead stop. First geat seems to be lower with much more power than before. Before I did this mod., the bike wanted to bog down when taking slow corners is first gear. Now it hops. The stereo speakers were changed to J&M and the sound was greatly improved from the stock junk speakers.
Good luck...

Really like my Rush slip-ons with 2" baffles....
deep and throaty without being obnoxious.

The Stage 1 download does not correct how lean your bike STILL is.
