Default Saddlebags and Backrest problems

I am having a problem with my saddlebags on my 04 Road King. I have the ridgid leather bags and the detachable passenger backrest on the bike. When I lift the lids on the saddlebags. They hit the release levers for the back rest. I was wonder if they made stainless or chromed spacers to mount the bags far enough out so they don't hit. This is all Harley parts so I thought they would have a solution. No one at the dealer seems to know anything about this type of problem. I can always have the spacers made but thought there might be an easier solution.

Yes, they do have chrome spacers that should have been included in the original install kit. I had the same problem to the point it was scuffing my bag lids every time I opened them. It took me two trips to the dealer to get it fixed but they finally got it right. Your dealer should be able to supply you with the spacers. If not, you might be able to get some at an industrial nut and bolt supply house. There's a place by my house called "Broward Bolt" that sells them along with other various chrome fasteners mainly for bike builders- maybe they could UPS you a couple. Good luck with it.

Thanks Roxnatwist, that' what I needed to know. It also explains why it wouldn't show up as an available part. It sounds as though no one at the dealer would know unless they have actually installed one themselves an seen the spacers.

Thanks again,
Jim
