For all those that have changed from cam chain to cam gear driven.
How excessive is the noise? Is going to the gears worth the noise,
and is it something people will pick up on right away?
Thanks.

Thumbs up

I just sold my 2000 RKC that I had installed the gear cams in. Believe me, the noise is no problem and the bike ran like striped a** ape!! My brother cleaned my clock with his 2000 RKC with them in there. I really thought the 96' motor would make up the difference but it didn't...and I still haven't heard the last of it from him!! I really wouldn't classify it as "noise". It's more of whine, kinda like a supercharger whine but not near as loud, kinda cool, really. We put in S&S 510s and used adjustable push rods to keep from having to take the top off the motor. I would do it again because there's definitely a difference!

No noise on mine, just a slight whine and I would bet most wouldn't pick up on it. Checking the runout while doing the install my crank was at .0025 which helps.

I love the noise, reminds me of a turbo charger, but it's not that loud. It's difinetly noticeable after the change, because its a new noise to you, but I never notice mine anymore. The only person I ever rode with that noticed it is a mechanic buddy of mine, and he complimented me for making the change.

Mine are as quiet or quieter than the stock chains.

I did mine I went from the 88" to 95" and went with the Andrews 37G gear drive cams. I'ts not loud at all. As already said you'll notice a different sound but not a loud sound. I'm really glad I made the change 1. because it definitely gives me the HP and Tq I was after and 2. The piece of mind of not having to worry about the cam chain tensioner failing. Some have failed as early as 20,000 miles

I never noticed a difference in the sound when I changed cams. Picked up a ton of torque.

I never heard a noise from mine, I've had it for two years now.

I hear my roller rocker instead of my gears.

I put Andrews cams in my 02 Ultra, then sold it 1400 miles later. I didn't mind the whine too much, and the low end torque was improved a bunch. The guy who bought the 02 was overjoyed to know it had cams in it. Peace of mind too.
