Never ever trade as long as EBay is around. Sell, then buy a new one from the stealer. Sure you can wait. You can do it!

They gave me $13,500 for my 06 Ultra with 42,000 miles. High miles hurt the deal. Take off all bling that you can before a trade if you do one. They don't give you anything for it. Very happy with the 09.

Dealer offered me 7800 for my 02 Road King w/38500 miles on an 09 Street Glide. I sold it myself last week for $12k. Felt like if I was going to get rid of it I needed to do it before tripping 40000 miles to get my price.

FWIW, an HD dealer up the road has a nice looking 2004 RK with around 7K. They're asking $10,500.

the dealer might pay 2/3rds of what he expects to get for it. sell it yourself and get more money.

Everyone has given you the correct answer. Sell it yourself. They probably won't offer much more than 10k for it. You could sell it for 11500 to 12k.

Check out both kelly blue book and nada online sites, they seem to differ a little for the same year/model. Most dealers will offer you something close to the wholesale value on these sites. If that's not good enough in your opinion the only option is to try sell it yourself, but as previously mention this is not the best time of year to sell.

My understanding is the dealers around here (Maryland) use NADA and not KBB. That seemed to hold true with me. KBB said my bike trade in value was $8800. NADA book said $7800 and that was the exact number the dealer offered me.

Traded my 03 Heritage mid August for an 08 Ultra, 21,000 miles lots of chrome and add ons. Quick detachable backrest/luggage rack and tour pack all with it. One dealer offered me $7,500.00 and moved up to $8,500.00. I laughed and walked out. Went to another dealer and he told me he would give me $8,500.00 sight unseen, but it could be more. I said sure it could. He called several times telling me that the Ultra I wanted was still there and to come in and talk. So a few days later I did. I told him I didn't need a new bike and didn't have to have one but would like to get one. Final offer was $12,500.00 for my ride toward the 08 Ultra. Done deal.

BTW: The dealer is selling my old ride for $15,995.00.

When I traded my 03 883C The dealer gave me 1000 more than Trade in and then money off the msrp also. . I was hoping for more but the market up here is flooded with sportsters and a few other dealers were at that same number but would budge off of the msrp. Plus I didn't need to play the game with potential buyers.
