Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?
I just purchased the Adjustable Rider Backrest for my Road King Classic ... (52474-01A).
Anyone install this? The pics on the Instruction sheet are awful and wondering if anyone can step me thru the process ... I know, I'm a dweeb ...[:'(] I did look on the internet and searched this forum, but didn't find anything ...

RE: Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?
It's really pretty straightforward. Remove the seat and you'll see where the backrest mounts. There's only one place it can go. Route the adjusting cable to the left side and secure it to the frame rail just behind the tank and below the seat. On mine, I had to shim the 2 front mounting bolts so the backrest frame didn't wrinkle the seat slot. I just installed a nut under the bracket to raise the flange up a little. At installation I got rid of the grab strap as well. The whole job took about 20 minutes. Good luck.

I found that the backrest mounts are easy to install.
Getting the pad installed on the bracket is a different story. One leg is mounted solid and one leg is moveable. Slide the backrest into the seat and put the MOVEABLE leg into the bracket first. Then pull the backrest towards you and rotate the other leg down into the slot. Simple once I spent 20 minutes fighting it to figure it out.

RE: Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?
Woo Hoo! I got it installed!
The tough part for me was finding the spot for the adjustable lever ... which was below the tank on the left. Had to use my special tool, my wifes small hands to get the nut on the bolt to hold the bracket. After that it was a breeze to install.
Thank you all for the advice!
Went out for an hour to test out my new seat (Sundowner) and the adj backrest ... The backrest adjusts forward and back and up and down ... I think I'm in love [sm=drooldude.gif].
I bought mine from M&M with the new seat ... I priced Zanotti, Chicago and M&M, they were all within $13 of each other, M&M had them in stock! ... pretty much 20% off list ...
note: the backrest can be removed completely and very easily if you want to ride without. My big test will be next month when we do our 1st overnighter (Las Vegas to Sedona) ... can't wait!
