Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?

RE: Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?
Okay, I just installed my sundowner seat and the adjustable backrest. I tried the seat before putting on the backrest, and loved it! But, with the backrest on, even in the full-back (most upright) position, it crams me into the tank. WTF, What did I miss? And thanks spartns for the tip about shimming it so it doesn't wrinkle the seat. Thanks for your help folks...

RE: Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?
There are 4 sets of holes in the bracket that mounts below the seat so you can adjust the fore and aft position for short or long legs.
On the rear side of the backrest, near the bottom of the covering material is a small hole that allows access to a 3/16 allen head screw. You can adjust this screw to adjust the forward and backward tilt of the backrest pad.

RE: Installing the Adjustable Rider Backrest?
I just put one on my E-glide. I have a "tall-boy" seat and even all the way back the rest pushed me too far forward the rest slid in and stayed at about a 45 degree angle toward the front. So I took the mount off cut the front and sides and remouted it and adjusted it. Pulled the seat back off and I needed about an inch more in height toward the front I welded a piece of plate to it and extended the toungue about and inch and it works GREAT make it all feel like an easy chair lol lol

This is an old thread, but I had to post a big thanks to everyone who provided input. I got one of these for Christmas and, frankly, there was a devil to pay getting in installed. Did a search here and lo and behold, here was the answer to my problem. Read up, went back to the garage, and presto, all done. Thanks much to everyone, is this a great forum or what!
