Default Ethanol in gas

Was riding on the interstate the other day, could only find gas with 10% ethanol mix. Filled it from empty, rode about 150 mi home. Did not notice any performance difference. I do not have problems finding gas w/o ethanol near the house. Is this an interstate thing only or am I seeing the future? Is this more widespread in other parts of the country? I ride alot on the interstate and this is the first time this has been a problem for me.

You will find ethanol in most urban areas. Large urban areas use mixes of gas mandated by the epa some with ethanol, some without.

The only difference you will notice is your fuel mileage will drop about 10% with ethanol.

In my area you can only find gas with 10% ethanol. I have seen about 4 mpg decrease.

Here in Pa we have some stations with Ethanol, I too was on a trip this weekend and came across some of this mixed gas 93 Octain Sunoco. Once back on the road and riding the hills of Pa, I noticed pinging and loss of power. The bike also backfired quite frequently down hills. On most hills I noticed I had to shift down two gears to stop the pinging from the engine. I have an 07 RK with stage one, T-Max and will make it a point to stay away from the stuf in the future. I notice too that my truck has issue also. Once home again I returned to the usual gas that has no mix and the bike returned to its normal operating mode.

Here in Ontario, most gas has:

10% ethanol = regular
5% ethonol = mid grade
0% ethanol = premium
